Phase2 presents hands-on training in computer technologies that
affect your business. Most courses are taught in the evening
and do not interfere with normal daytime work hours. Because
of the short timeframes, these courses are designed to get you
started in the right direction with these technologies, and give you
authoritative information on how to use the technology in your
business.
Perl Programming: Perl is an open
source language popular with web programmers, system administrators,
and data access programmers. It is
a powerful, flexible, easy-to-use programming language. Topics
covered include basic syntax, data types and objects, CGI
programming, building Web spiders, debugging, and manipulating
arrays. Attendees should have familiarity with at least one
other programming language. Copies of Perl, and instructions
for downloading the latest versions will be available.
Computer Systems for
Business: Are you setting up your own business, or are the
computer systems for your small business virus-prone, constantly
crashing, or do you just need a better way? This course
describes how to set up cross-platform systems that will reliably
handle e-mail, a secure website, intranet, firewall, automated
backup, shared contact management systems, and a myriad of other
business necessities. Attendees should have familiarity with
computer systems and programming. Some knowledge of system
administration of Windows machines and/or Linux machines is
useful. At the end of day 5, attendees will be able to set up
a system to handle all the above on a single Linux server that acts as a
gateway to their small company or department using Windows
workstations.
Software Development:
Programming is only one piece of the software development
process. This course will guide you in the proper development
practices of gathering requirements, design, source code control,
testing, and maintenance. Attendees should have familiarity
with at least one programming language (Java or C++), and the
Windows platform.
