Welcome to the Homepage for the Eagle River (Alaska) Ptarmigans. The Ptarmigans (Alaska's state bird) are a Strat-o-matic baseball team playing in the North American Strat-o-Matic Baseball League. The Ptarmigans are managed by Jeff Moeller.  This page will have current news and RPIs.

NEWS: (Last updated 4/9/99): The Ptarmigans are back! After falling just short in the hunt for the hardware, the Ptarmigans picked up a new everyday shortstop in Chris Gomez, but focused mostly on their pitching staff and some prospects. Three key players were added: two mainline lefty starters have been added in Omar "the Tentmaker" Daal and Sterling "Someday I'll live up to my billing" Hitchcock, and a hitman with a contract on McGwire (name withheld by request). Other than that, it's pretty much last year's usual suspects. Can the pitching carry the Ptarmigans back to the playoffs? Will McGwire dare show his steroid-enhanced face at the Ballpark on Cook Inlet on the 22nd? Stay tuned....
